Well, here's another step closer to some of G.E.F.'s favourite moments when someone had the video or film rolling . . .
The following comments are all by Glen:
Here's some footage taken by Al Flipside from the "Suicidal" party where I shot this photo of BLACK FLAG that appears in FUCK YOU HEROES. In a Culver City California garage, early 1983. Watch and listen to BLACK FLAG live, playing Depression, one of my all time favorites. (If you look close you can see that I put my camera down for this one since occasionally I can be spotted going off in front - with the black shirt).
Here's a short clip from the film "Freewheelin" that stared Stacy Peralta - Watch him with some other locals skating at the infamous Kenter Canyon School banks (West Los Angeles) back in 1975! Camille Darren explains why skating had to start in California.
This clip is from a prime time local TV news magazine program that aired in Los Angeles circa 1980 - Regarding Punk violence and riots at gigs, Appearances with the legendary CHUCK DUKOWSKI (BLACK FLAG bass player) speaking his piece to the city, as well as GREG GINN (BLACK FLAG, founder/Lead Guitarist) and a anonymously in the shadows Los Angeles Police officer . . .
(remember this is all pre-Rollins, so in the live bits DEZ is singing + If you look really close you can see D. Boon jumping around and even me Taking photos from the stage!)
Here's another clip shot by Al Flipside. MINOR THREAT skating the Kenter Canyon School yard circa '82, including Ian MacKaye and myself taking a run. MINOR THREAT were on tour visiting/playing Los Angeles. Also some incredible LIVE footage of them performing "Stepping Stone" in L.A. at that time.
This was probably the best show SUICIDAL TENDENCIES ever played. The first big headlining gig that no-one wanted to give us (I was still the manager at this time). Here's "I Saw Your Mommy" from that incredible show . . . circa '84.
Here broken up into two segments are parts of the eMpTyV Sports show on "Athletes & Art" (left) that Glen was a big part of, as well as some of the raw interview out takes (right) that never made it on the show . . .
Amazing rare vintage footage of Tony Alva on ABC'c Wide World of Sports as it appeared on national television in 1977 . . .
Once again the Legendary CHUCK DUKOWSKI of BLACK FLAG circa 1980, this time on a NATIONAL late night talk show discussing the violence that has been following around Black Flag shows recently, including what appears to be some live footage from "new wave theater" and actual scenes from the BACES HALL RIOT in Hollywood. (Again this is all pre-Rollins, so it's DEZ singing in these clips.)
Here's some Vintage West Los Angeles cruising, and bank skating from the mid-1960's! Check the style.
Here's just a few quick clips of the Infamous Z-BOYS at the Cadillac-Bahne/ Del Mar Nationals (circa '74) - when they changed the face of Skateboarding forever. STACY PERALTA, TONY ALVA, and JAY ADAMS. Looking back on the event, in 1976 it was said in SkateBoarder magazine " The boys made quite an impression with their hard-driving, low-slung, pivotal, bank-oriented moves. In the words of the Mellow Cat hisself, 'There was so much aggression, they were more like a street gang than a skate team,' or as the reporter from the Evening Sentinel put it, 'While everyone else was standing up, these kids were turning all over the ground.' "
